Technical Support

Get help with a system issue

If you believe your system is not operating correctly, provide details of the issue through our support form.

Renewable energy systems are designed to provide reliable performance over many years, but customers may occasionally need technical advice, maintenance or help understanding how their system is operating.

Where possible, include any warning messages, error codes, screenshots or photographs. This information may help our technical team assess the issue before contacting you.

Support may include

Solar PV system queries

Battery storage issues

Inverter warnings or error messages

EV charger support

Monitoring or app access problems

Unexpected changes in system performance

Communication or connectivity issues

Advice following a loss of power or system shutdown

Investigation of suspected faults

  • Solar panel cleaning

Dust, dirt, bird droppings, organic growth and debris can accumulate on solar panels over time. The effect this has will depend on the system location, panel angle, surrounding environment and local conditions.

Solmatix can assess whether professional cleaning may be appropriate and arrange a suitable service for accessible residential, commercial and ground-mounted systems.

Cleaning should be completed using suitable equipment and methods to avoid damaging the panels, roof, mounting system or electrical components.

    Cleaning enquiries may include

    • Residential rooftop solar panels
    • Commercial rooftop installations
    • Agricultural buildings
    • Ground-mounted arrays
    • Scheduled or one-off cleaning
    • Cleaning combined with a wider visual inspection

Customers should not attempt to access rooftops or clean panels where this presents a risk. Solar equipment should only be handled using appropriate safety procedures and suitable cleaning methods.

  • System servicing and inspections

Periodic inspections can help identify signs of damage, deterioration or developing technical issues before they become more significant.

The appropriate frequency and scope of servicing will depend on the system type, age, location, manufacturer guidance, warranty conditions and operating environment.

A service or inspection may include

    • Visual inspection of solar panels
    • Review of visible mounting components
    • Inspection of accessible cabling and connections
    • Inverter condition and error review
    • Battery system checks
    • EV charging equipment checks
    • Monitoring and generation review
    • Identification of visible damage or deterioration
    • Review of system documentation where available
    • Recommendations for repairs or further investigation

The exact checks included will be confirmed before work is arranged.

  • Monitoring support

Monitoring platforms help customers view information about electricity generation, battery storage and system performance.

If you are having difficulty accessing your monitoring account or believe the information displayed may be incorrect, our team can help investigate.

We may be able to assist with

    • Forgotten login details
    • Monitoring platform access
    • Reconnecting monitoring after a broadband or router change
    • Understanding generation information
    • Missing or delayed monitoring data
    • App or portal queries
    • Changes in reported system performance

Some monitoring issues may involve third-party platforms or internet connectivity. Where this applies, we will explain the most appropriate next step.

  • Repairs and remedial work

If an inspection or technical assessment identifies a fault, our team will explain the issue and recommend the appropriate next steps.

Depending on the system and the nature of the problem, this may involve:

    • Further technical investigation
    • Component repair or replacement
    • Manufacturer warranty support
    • Electrical remedial work
    • Replacement monitoring equipment
    • Inverter or battery assessment
    • Panel or mounting-system repairs
    • Recommissioning and testing

Any work outside an existing warranty or maintenance agreement will be discussed and approved before chargeable work begins.

  • System upgrades

Your energy requirements may have changed since your original system was installed.

Subject to compatibility, available capacity and technical assessment, Solmatix can advise on opportunities to upgrade or expand your renewable energy system.

    Potential upgrades include

    • Adding battery storage to an existing solar installation
    • Increasing battery capacity
    • Adding an EV charger
    • Reviewing additional solar generation
    • Replacing older inverters or monitoring equipment
    • Integrating newer technology
    • Adapting a system following changes to the property or site
  • Commercial maintenance

Commercial and large-scale renewable energy systems may require a planned approach to inspection, maintenance and performance review.

Solmatix can discuss aftercare arrangements suited to the scale, technology and operating requirements of your organisation.

    Support may include

    • Planned preventative maintenance
    • Scheduled system inspections
    • Solar panel cleaning
    • Monitoring and performance review
    • Fault investigation
    • Inverter and battery support
    • Remedial works
    • Multi-site maintenance planning
    • Support for facilities and estates teams
    • Site-specific reporting

A clear route to the right support

Providing accurate information at the beginning helps us understand the issue and direct your request to the right person.

Step 1 - Submit your support request

Complete the online form and select the type of support you need.
Provide your contact details, installation address and any information you have about the system.

Step 2 - Add supporting information

For technical issues, include a clear description of what has happened and when you first noticed it.
Upload relevant photographs, screenshots, error messages or system documents where available. Please do not access a roof or electrical equipment to obtain this information.

Step 3 - Initial review

Our team will review the information provided and check any relevant customer or installation records available to us.
We may contact you if further information is required.

Step 4 - Initial assistance

Some monitoring, connectivity or operational queries may be resolved through initial guidance from our support team.

If further investigation is needed, we will explain the appropriate next step.

Step 5 -  Site visit or quotation

Where an inspection, cleaning visit, service or repair is required, we will confirm the proposed scope of work and any applicable charges.
For larger commercial systems, we may need to assess access, safety and operational requirements before providing a quotation.

Step 6 - Service delivery

An appropriate member of the Solmatix team will carry out the agreed inspection, maintenance, cleaning or remedial work.
Any additional issues identified will be explained before further chargeable work is undertaken.

Step 7 - Findings and recommendations

Following the visit, we will explain the work completed and advise you of any recommended repairs, monitoring requirements or future maintenance.
Relevant reports or documentation will be provided where included within the agreed service.

Did another company install your system?

If your original installer is no longer trading or you need independent support with an existing renewable energy system, Solmatix may be able to help.

Before accepting the work, we will need information about the system, including available installation documents, equipment details and a description of the support required.

An initial inspection or diagnostic fee may apply. We cannot guarantee that every system can be repaired, upgraded or brought under an ongoing maintenance arrangement.
