Own Your Power at Home
Generate your own electricity. Store more of it. Buy less from the grid.
Take greater control of your household energy with a renewable energy system designed around your home and the way you live.
Solmatix designs, installs and supports home solar panels, battery storage and EV charging systems across Northern Ireland. Our experienced local team will guide you through every stage, from your initial home survey to installation and ongoing aftercare.
No confusing jargon. No one-size-fits-all packages. Just clear advice and a system designed around your home, energy use and future plans.
Is solar right for your home?
Is my home suitable?
Many homes are. You do not need a south-facing roof: east and west-facing roofs can work well too. We’ll assess your roof, shading and electricity use to recommend a system that fits your home.
How long does installation take?
A typical solar panel installation takes one to two days once work begins. More complex systems may take longer, and we’ll explain the expected timetable in advance.
Can I add a battery or EV charger?
Yes. Solmatix can design your solar PV system alongside battery storage and home EV charging, based on how you use energy now and what you may need in future.
What might it cost, and how much could I save?
As a general UK guide, Energy Saving Trust estimates around £7,600 for a typical 4.5 kWp solar system. Your price and potential savings will depend on your home, the system you choose and how much of the electricity you use. We’ll provide a tailored quote and savings estimate so you can judge whether it works for you.
What happens next?
Tell us a little about your home and energy use. We’ll discuss your goals, assess the options and provide a bespoke proposal with clear costs, estimated savings and next steps.
Make more of your own energy
Your home already has the potential to generate clean electricity. Solar panels allow you to produce energy from your roof, while battery storage lets you save surplus electricity for later.
This can reduce the amount of electricity you need to buy from the grid and give you greater control over changing household energy costs.
Adding a home EV charger can help you use your own generated electricity to charge your vehicle safely and conveniently at home.
Solmatix brings these technologies together into one connected system designed around your property and household energy needs.
The greatest benefit comes from having a system properly designed around when and how your household uses electricity. That is why every Solmatix recommendation begins with your home, rather than a standard package.

A clearer picture of solar for your home
Investing in renewable energy may feel like a major decision, but the process does not need to be complicated.
Our residential team will explain your options clearly, answer your questions and manage each stage of the installation.
Step 1 - Tell us about your home
Contact our residential team and tell us about your property, energy use and what you are considering. You can provide your postcode and, if available, a recent electricity bill or your annual electricity use. Photos of your roof and meter location can also be helpful. You do not need to have every technical detail ready. Your first conversation is an opportunity to discuss your goals, whether you are considering solar panels, battery storage, an electric vehicle or planning for future changes to your household.
Step 2 - Home energy survey
A Solmatix specialist will assess your property, including the size and condition of your roof, available roof space, orientation, shading and existing electrical arrangements.
We will also look at how and when your household uses electricity. Your current and future plans, such as adding an EV, installing a battery or accommodating a growing household, will help us understand what your system needs to achieve.
Step 3 - System design
Our technical team will design a solution around your home and energy profile.
This may include solar panels, battery storage, EV charging or a combined home energy system. We will consider the appropriate system size, equipment selection, positioning, expected generation and how the different technologies can work together.
Step 4 - Your proposal
You will receive a clear, bespoke proposal setting out:
- The recommended system
- Equipment included
- Installation requirements
- Estimated generation and system performance
- Potential energy benefits and savings
- Project cost
- Available payment or finance options
- Any assumptions, approvals or next steps
Residential solar installations typically cost approximately £6,000–£8,000 as an indicative guide. This includes battery storage, panels, inverter, mounting, installation, scaffolding, commissioning and applicable VAT. It excludes EV charging, roof repairs, grid charges and other applicable exclusions.
Every home is different, so your final price will depend on factors such as system size, roof access, electrical work, battery storage and EV charging. Your proposal will explain the installed cost and the assumptions behind the estimate, helping you make an informed decision.Read more about costs and payment options in our Residential FAQs.
Step 5 - Installation planning
Once you decide to proceed, we will agree an installation date and explain how to prepare for the work. Our team will coordinate the equipment, technical requirements and any relevant approvals or applications. We will also explain any planning checks and grid connection requirements that apply to your property.
A standard residential installation usually takes 1–2 days on site once the design is agreed and required approvals are in place. More complex roofs, battery storage or additional electrical work may affect the schedule, and we will explain the expected process for your property.
Step 6 - Professional installation
Your system will be installed by experienced Solmatix personnel in accordance with relevant technical and safety standards.
We will install your chosen equipment carefully and professionally, treating your home with respect and working to keep disruption to a minimum.
Step 7 - Commissioning and handover
Once installation is complete, we will commission and test your system to ensure everything is working as intended.
We will show you how your system works, explain the monitoring platform and provide the relevant system information and documentation. The warranties for your chosen equipment and our workmanship will be set out in your proposal, with further detail available in our Residential FAQs.
Depending on where you live and the terms available, you may also be able to receive payment for surplus electricity exported to the grid. Grants, support schemes and incentives vary by location and eligibility, so we can help you understand what to check without assuming that funding or export income will be available.
Step 8 - Ongoing support
Our relationship does not end when the installation team leaves.
Solmatix remains available to provide technical support, aftercare and advice throughout the life of your system. Whether you have questions about your system, monitoring, energy use or future additions such as battery storage or EV charging, our team is here to help.
